Cute little village

Image
Here some snaps from today morning when we used the rubber boat to go to the village and do some shopping and walking around.Valle Gran Rey used to be THE Hippie hangout in the 70s and 80s and has preserved at least some of that flair.

A virgin wreck? In 10m depth? YES!!!

When we approached the anchorage there was a fender used as a marker bouy and i could see a white spot. When we all went swimming later i had the mask with me to check the anchor and so i also swam to that white spot and it was a fresh sunken yacht. Maybe around 8-10m long, the name is "Duck" and the port of registration Freiburg. So it was a german sailboat. I could see the spinnaker pole and lifevests and other stuff, so it was not emptied by anyone. Of course i am now curious to know what happened. I will investigate :-) Check out the pictures.

La Gomera Valle Gran Rey anchorage

We are anchoring at La Gomera. The bay is on the south west part of the island and so it should be well protected in the prevailing north east winds. There is a small fishing harbour and a smaller ferry is connecting it to San Sebastian. The anchor ground is black gravel and under water visibility around 25m. When we dropped anchor at 17.30 yesterday i could clearly see it laying on the ground. There are around 5-7 other yachts anchoring here and the wind is around 1-2 and only a slight swell. very good anchor conditions. The 30kg Buegelanchor is holding very well. depth around 9m and we have around 35m-40m chain out. We are anchoring directly beneath huge rocks so the scenery is beautiful. We might stay 2 or more days. There is no internet or phone coverage out there so i am typing this in the harbour since with HF somehow blogger does not accept my picture attachments.
