As always - some good news and some bad news

Image
Good news is, that the new solar panels and controllers work fine. For the electrical geeks: The solar panels are now wired as an array in serial and so the output is between 90V and 145V and this is then used as an input for the controller. The controller is an Outback Flexmax 60A and so i only use "half" of the capacity and we could further upgrade panels. The output at 11:00 in the morning is already around 25A that is great. The bad news is that our batteries have died. To be more precise the house bank which we use to drive everything besided starting the engines. They are 4 pieces of 140Ah 12V wet lead batteries and around 4-5 years old. So it is ok to replace them now. The pain is that they weigh 40kg each and have to be hauled in the boat and installed. Just another thing on the 2do list. The rigger with the main halyard has not shown up yet, so no one can enter up the mast to fix the tricolor LED masthead light. This sucks.
