A day in the life (on the atlantic)

In the afternoon we had another Mahi Mahi on the rod but he jumped off the hook maybe 5m away from the boat. A little later the reel was running off very very fast and when Andi stopped it there was very high tension on the line and then nothing. The second reel also started to run out a little later and then stopped. When we wanted to retrieve the lures, we saw that both were gone. Maybe ripped away by drifting debris or by really big fishes. So tomorrow morning we have to rig two new ones.
In the afternoon i had a one hour nap after the ARC radio net, which is going from 1200 UTC to 1500 UTC. In the morning Andi particpated in the maritime round on 14.313 with Christoph DH2LV called "Seelotse".
The routine check of all stanchions, lines, terminals, etc. was normal but maybe tomorrow we should get the spinnaker down, we will check it and bring it back up. This would would cost precious time and we are in a rally :-)
Dinner was Spaghetti and a white sauce with feta cheese and peppers and some lettuce salad. We consolidated our two fridges into one today and switched off the smaller one to safe power. The solar panels produces 119Ah today but we still kept the engine running for 2 hours in the evening because we all wanted to have a hot shower! And so we did, after the dinner we had a nice shower and it feels great. I added two more pictures of our encounter with the boat Skiathos from today because i like them. Andi used my camera and shot nearly 100 pics while they were close to us. I have chosen those were sea conditions can be seen best. Also they are a little bigger this time since i uploaded them via satellite telephone and not SSB HF radio.
We tested it today and it also works nice but then it is expensive but from time to time you have to check your backup systems anyway. Also we played some cards and had salt and vinegar chips from Lays and Milka chocolate. Great! (By they way, i won ;-) )
Our watch duty "plan":
Michael from 2100 to 2400
Andi from 0000 to 0300
Chris from 0300 to 0500
Michael from 0500 to 0800
No boat around, the moon and many stars are out and the nights are getting warmer.
