Daily routine?
Hi,
some people asked me what the daily routine is looking like.
Today for example we got up at 8 (after a good 9 hours sleep) and i walked to the bakery to get some breadrolls.
Then we had breakfast for about an hour. Afterwards i used the bicycle to try to find some CAT5 network cable to rewire the Battery meter on Linocat but was unsuccesful. I saw a HUUUGE sign which says "Super" from a distance but when reaching there it was a Super-Mini-Golf. GREAT :-(
The i inflated the tyres a bit more (to 5bar) on the bike and went to a chandlery to get new line to replace the line of a fender which has been worn out.
Back on the boat i replaced the line and then installed and repaired our Canon iP90 Colorjet Printer. This is a very small but neat printer and it did not pull the paper in. A small plastic part was dislocated and so i moved it back into place.
Then downloading the drivers from the internet and installing them to print out the shuttle transfer and flight vouchers for our guests.
Also the lazybag where the sail is in needed some repair since of the clips were destroyed by the UV part of the sunlight. Check out the pic above.
So i had to do some stitching using a waxed 0,5mm twine with a thick sailneedle. That is some serious stitching and you need a metal part to press the needle through the canvas and two layers of belt material.
I am sure my stitches is not a piece of art but we will see how it holds.
Then i disconnected the shunt of the batterymeter. The shunt is in the negative cable to the housebatteries and is measuring the input and output of the used Amperes. It was corroded and so i cleaned it with fine sandpaper. Then i figured out that the twisted pair cable was just a twisted pair of cables. And well, thats not exactly what an electronics geek would call twisted pair. So after checking with Mastervolt in Germany they advised me to get a CAT5 computer shielded twisted pair and use this instead.
Now i am recharging the batteries with the shunt disconnected and next time i am lucky getting such cable i will rewire the batterymeter and then lets see.
Currently it shows that we are only using power but never putting anything in the batteries, which is of course not true.
2 days ago i cleaned the toilet holding tanks which is always a nice job. Later today i want to check both engines for dirt in the seawater filter, saildrive oil and engine oil. But i will wait until the midday heat is gone otherwise the enginecompartments are like a sauna.
You see that it is not exactly boring and i did not mention things like filling watertanks, repairing the 220V land power cord etc....
