The last day of the atlantic crossing

We now have less than 100NM to go. So we chatted during the breakfast how it was:
It was nice and easy but we think that on a catamaran it is much easier than on a monohull. Lani also had no problems at all. She enjoyed the attention she was getting.
WHat would we do different?
Stronger fishing line and steel pre line and bigger lures.
More cucumbers and if needed more soft drinks. We need to see dolphins or whales. I think we are one of the few boats that did not see any dolphins or whales on the trip.
We think that pasta dishes are perfect and also the indian dishes were much appreciated. Communication was fun. We liked the ARC net but the groups should be different for the future because we were in the small boat group but we were rather always near the bigger boats. Therefore my role as a net controller was also made impossible. We played Trivial Pursuit over SSB with Tucanon and Raylah and also enjoyed that. The german atlantic morning round with DH2LC on 14313 was always a good start into the day and we could hear him until the last day. So equip your boat with SSB and learn how to use it. Also a Pactormodem is a nice feature to send the position reports.
As a backup we had a Motorola Iridium phone which also worked nice and we only received one call, so it still leaves you peace.

Have as much land support as possible! We have had the "Onotoa" Crew in Vienna who gave us a lot of information during the trip, often more than once per day and Helmut also put all the data into the blog. Also we had support from our indian friends like Rahul and of course by all family, friends and colleagues.

We want to THANK YOU for suporting our trip or at least tolerating it :-)

A special "Thank You" also to my company Tieto for making this possible, especially the Healthcare industry management team and i want to name John Ronnback and Arto Ryymin!

But this is not the end of this blog. It is rather a new start with information about the caribbean islands and all the fun and adventures that we will have here.
I will add more pictures of the atlantic crossing once we have wireless lan access.
