Boot Duesseldorf boat show 2009

Hi there, last week i checked out some thing on the Duesseldorf boat show. First there were less yachts than last years, most likely due to the financial crisis. The only interesting multihulls for my liking was a green Dragonfly trimaran and a Catana 41. We purchased two Brompton folding bikes and i tried them out on the fare. Easy to fold and unfold a well thought out system including bags but really very expensive with more than 1000EUR per bike. They were were purchased from VOSS in Germany and we decided for the 2009 model with light and all extras.Lets hope they dont get stolen in the first week :-) Here is a link to a youtube video Other things to look out for was Lopolight LED Navilights which i want to add as a 3color masthead light with anchorlight. Also i asked for an offer for new sails with a bit more sailarea. When checking out folding or feahering props i was a bit shocked by the price of 2500EUR per prop. Is it worth for maybe 1/2 a knot of speed?

A stamp for LinoCat

Many authorities like stamps :-) So if you have a rubber stamp for your boat you can make your documents like crewlists look much more official. Another advantage is that you can stamp logbooks of people sailing with you and even more you can stamp you own books so that if you swap them others can read to whom this book belonged. If you add the part of the journey where you have read it it is even more interesting. I decided to have our MMSI registration number and my german official boat radiocallsign on it.

Happy New Year in 2009

2009 will be the year for LinoCat since from summer onwards LinoCat will be on the way from Portugal to the Canaries most likely via Madeira. From there LinoCat might go over the Atlantic to the Caribean. And then.... LET´S SEE We will keep you updated with the preparations. Regards Michael
