Tonight is the costume party and some strange creatures were walking by. Tomorrow is the Lagoon cocktail party and Friday the farewell dinner. PHEEWWWW. Social stress :-) We skip this one tonight!

This morning it was raining heavily. The water looks like what we usually pump over board from the toilet. The reason is that in our basin an overflow channel from the local sewage system is coming out. YUCK! Then the truck from Corte Ingles arrived and we started provisioning the boat. Now it is 16.30 and still not everything is stowed away. Our boat is heavy like hell and so i guess we will only do a little over 2 knots :-) Then i was in a seminar about the radio communications and net control and i volunteered as a net controller. Jerry the Rigger checked our rig and i was happy that all was OK since i have done that before myself.

The Vela latina basin is now almost fully packed with catamarans. One Lagoon 500 seems to be still missing but otherwise all catamarans are here.

Today was the flag parade and a huge number of countries were present. A marching band was in front and one behind and then the whole parade walked through the marina. The boats have raised colorful flags and everyone is in party mood. In the afternoon there will be the famours DON PEDRO DINGHY RACE. John Gordon was carrying the scottish flag wearing a kilt and he showed us what is beneath but i clicked a second to late :-) The crew of the Catana 471 Campechano was walking with the Puerto Rican flag and they are the real party animals and always in a good mood.

Today the last week started. So there should be no big things left. Well, our wind vane is still not working and traveling without windspeed and direction would be bad. But i am confident that this will get fixed. To the left Lani Lani wants us to smell at the flower. Yesterday was the kids beach party and around 30 kids participated with 3 around 2years but Lani is still the youngest. They played funny games, were running around and were completly dirty and covered with sand. Lani had a good sand dinner. After the beach party there was a cocktail dinner for the boat owners and from the picture it looked like Lani did have some red wine. She slept in her pram right at the party and the fishing lure in her pram is one of here favorite toys. Of course the fishing hooks are removed. Just now another catamaran arrived, a Nautitech 47feet. So we are still in the group with the smallest catamaran. There are 3 Lagoon 38feet, one from the US, one from the UK and ours. More and more Catamarans have been coming in the last days. Since i had to go up to check the windvane i took some snaps from above. The two similar catamarans are Broadblue 415 and belong to scottish people. Now two more Lagoon 380 and lagoon 421 arrived. Also the Tucanon, a 440 which we met in Santa Cruz already. The big cats like the 47feet Catana and 50feet Sunreef and Prout Quasar 50 could go longside and the other all had to go "stern to" which means it is tricky to get on and off. Due to Lani they allowed us to move in the corner of the basin and stayed longside.

Good morning! LinoCat has his name now at least on the left side. Maybe we will also put it on the right side but that i have to do from the inflatable boat and so i am waiting for less wind. It is getting international here. The two catamarans in front of us are from Scotland and the US, the one behind us is now the Vanora with bettina and Peter from Germany and then a boat from Finnland and Puerto Rico and the "Wiki" from Germany. Three croatian catamaran will leave today for Tortola in the British Virgin islands. Today there is a lot to do and i will keep you updated with what is happening here, Right now Lani is sitting here and drinking milk and talking like a parrot :-)

Hi, here are some first impressions from Las Palmas. It is a fairly big city and the beach is also the anchorage and currently crowdy. Some huge cruiseships are here right now and the marina is huge and also very busy before the ARC Rallye starts. I just found out that email-to-blog does not allow attachments, so while out on the atlantic without cell coverage we can add text to the blog but no pictures. The weather here is a bit more cloudy and a lot colder with temperatures around 27 during day.

s thWe arrived at 15.00 the 5th of November in Las Palmas and directly went into the Vuela Latina, a baisin south of the normal marina basin. This is the place where all the catamarans for the ARC will be placed. The marina has a lunch siesta from 14 to 1600 and do not answer the radio. At 16.00 we registered and hooked LinoCat to water and electricity. There are huge catamarans here right now and so we look like a dwarf. Lani enjoyed smelling flowers and wanted to rip them out right away.
