Marina cats

Image
There are an estimated 80-90 cats living on just one breakwater. Some yachties feed them but noone is vaccinating or sterilizing them. Some look sick. But there are also extremly good looking ones with fancy colors.

The LinoCat bread

Image
This is the first "LinoCat" bread. Chris did it yesterday evening. The flour was fileld into reused plastic bottles in Germany to prevent any unwatned creatures eating from it and thus spoiling it. We had it for breakfast today and it tasted great. Baking time was around 60Minutes.

First ARC Party

Image
Today was the first party of the ARC, sponsored by Rolnautic the local chandlery. Maybe because leave a small fortune there :-) It was fun and the old dudes on the 2 guitars and drums played all the classics from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc but from CD they also played modern stuff. Tapas and drinks were free and it was an open air party directly in front of LinoCat since it was in the Vuela Latina basin. So everyone might know our boat now :-)

Land in sight

Image
I was just looking out the window and already there was mountain of St Lucia visible. So this time it was my turn to shout "Land in Sicht". We will arrive at the first waypoint near pigeon island at 2300 local time. There we have to change the sails to the normal ones and then continue for 4 miles. So we should be able to make it "today" at the 9th of december. This would be great.

More Preparations

Image
Hi, yesterday and today we continued with the preparations: Loadtesting all 4 housebank batteries That means we took 800A current out in 10 seconds and then measured the voltage drop. They all came out as "good". The drop is substantial, like from 13,5V going down to 11,4 during the measurement and after that back to 12V. Put new fittings and connectors to the water hose Charged all batteries Produced new safety equipment list Installed some equipment like whistles, drogues at the DAN bouy and also a light Restack the Espresso supplies :-) Put LinoCat on the starbord side Reflective 3M tape on all safety equipment Bought 2 22Liter Diesel canisters (calles Jerry cans) checked water in starbord engine room tried to discuss with a spanish technician (unsuccesfully)

Today there will be our first Safety Check. Someone will come on board and have a look at our equipment. My list has two parts, one is which we always have and the lower one is ARC specific.
